2 SOMERSET RESIDENTS FACING DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES

 

Sheriff Bobby Jones reports two individuals are in custody following a search warrant that occurred on Friday February 29, 2024.
 
The investigation began when Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant on a residence in Somerset Kentucky. Deputies went to the Murphy Avenue residence and tried to make contact at the front door of the residence with no contact. Deputies could hear people moving inside of the residence and forced entry into the residence.
 
Once inside of the residence, Deputies came in contact with Gary Raleigh, age 67 of Somerset. While securing the residence Deputies also came across Melena Adkins, age 54 of Somerset, trying to hide in a vehicle outside the residence parked in the driveway. When making contact with Adkins, Deputies located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
 
During the search of the residence there was a large quantity of methamphetamine, along with baggies, digital scales, and a handgun located. In total Deputies located approximately 257.9 grams of methamphetamine, 3 grams of heroin, .22 caliber handgun, and $154 in cash.
 
Gary Raleigh was arrest and charged with the following:
*Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense – (> or = 2 grams methamphetamine) (Enhancement)
*Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess (Enhancement)
*Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
 
Melena Adkins was arrested and charged with the following:
*Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Heroin)
*Possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree (Drug unspecified)
 
Both suspects were transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
 
The case remains under investigation by Deputy Grant Bryant of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Ferguson Police Department assisted on scene.
