SOMERSET MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY FIRING SHOTS AT MOTOCYCLISTS

Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of a Somerset man after deputies responded to the scene of a shots fired complaint.

On February 26, 2024, at around 7:06pm, LT Richard Smith, Deputies Dylan West,
James Pitman and Ronnie Golden responded to the 500 block of Hwy 1674 on a report of
someone shooting at the caller. The caller stated he was riding a motorcycle in the area when a
male subject had swung a stick at him, striking his motorcycle and knocking the license plate off
of it. The caller said he went back to the area with a friend to attempt to locate the license plate
when the same male subject began yelling at him and his friend before brandishing a firearm.
The caller went on to say, after the subject produced the firearm, he and his friend went to leave
when they heard what sounded like two gunshots.

Deputies arrived on scene and located Terry L. Cook, 60 years of age, Somerset, KY,
outside of the residence of 720 Hwy 1674. Deputies state that at the time of locating Cook, they
recognized he had something in his hands, but when they went to question him about the
incident, he fled back into the residence.

Deputies were eventually able to speak with Cook, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Cook claimed the motorcycle was operating too fast in the area, and denied having a firearm. Upon further investigation, deputies located two shotgun shells in the area, and
received statements from witnesses regarding seeing Cook with a long barreled firearm after he
stated he was going to kill the individuals looking for the license plate.

Terry L. Cook was arrested from the scene and charged with two counts of Wanton
Endangerment 1 st Degree, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon and Alcohol Intoxication
in a Public Place. Cook was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
