PCSO: FUGITIVE APPREHENDED IN PULASKI COUNTY

Sheriff Bobby Jones reports on October 18, 2023; a Texas man was in custody following the search of a property in the Ansel community of Pulaski County.

On Wednesday, Deputy Evan Whitis received information a fugitive from justice out of Virginia and Texas was hiding in Pulaski County. Deputy Whitis was informed Cody Schneider, age 30, of Texas, was staying at a residence on Fairview Road. Deputy Whitis confirmed with Pulaski County 911 that Schneider had active warrants for his arrest with full extradition in the United States.

Acting on this information, Deputies went to 1427 Fairview Rd., Science Hill, KY, in the early morning hours. Deputies surrounded the residence and encountered individuals outside who stated Schneider was inside the house. Deputies forced entry into the residence and were unable to locate Schneider but located an open window in the rear of the residence. One of the individuals on scene told Deputies they just arrived home and were carrying in groceries when Schneider saw vehicles approaching the residence. The individual stated Schneider ran into the residence before law enforcement arrived. Unable to locate Schneider, the Deputies left the scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, Deputies returned to the residence in an attempt to locate Schneider. Once at the residence, Deputies were advised by a citizen that Schneider was at a neighboring barn. After a brief search of the area around the barn, Schneider was located hiding in a weeded area.

Cody H. Schneider was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center. He is currently held on a charge of Fugitive-Warrant Not Required.

Deputy Whitis was assisted on the two incidents by Sergeant Preston Pitman, Deputy James Pitman, Deputy Seth Gover, Lieutenant Richard Smith, Deputy Dylan West, Deputy Noah Wesley, and Sergeant Cody Cundiff.
