MT. VERNON MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES AFTER PCSO FINDS WOMAN DEAD IN HER HOME

 

Sheriff Bobby Jones reports on Sunday October 15, 2023, a Rockcastle County man was
arrested following a call for service at a residence.


The incident began when Deputy Marcus Harrison responded to a status check on
Shoreline Drive. Upon arrival, Deputy Harrison spoke to family members of the female that
lived at the residence, who stated they had not spoken to her in over 18 hours. A male subject
could be heard inside of the residence but refused to answer the door. Deputy Harrison spoke to
the male subject, later identified as Johnnie Bullock, age 76, of Mount Vernon, through a
window in the residence. Bullock told Deputy Harrison the female was breathing but
unresponsive.


Lieutenant Richard Smith arrived on scene and Deputies forced entry into the residence. Once
inside of the residence, Deputies located Bullock laying on the bed on top of the female.
Somerset/ Pulaski EMS arrived on scene, where they administered treatment. The Pulaski
County Coroner’s Office arrived on scene and pronounced the female dead. During the
investigation, Deputies did not see signs of foul play.


In plain view of the bed, Deputies located methamphetamine, marijuana, glass smoking pipes,
and digital scales. Located just under the bed, Deputies located a large bag containing suspected
methamphetamine.


The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division was called out to assist on scene. A
search warrant was obtained for the residence. Upon execution of the search warrant, Deputies
located A large quantity of suspected heroin, Oxycodone, Gabapentin, and baggies.
A search of Mr. Bullock’s person uncovered over $3,500.00 in currency.


All items seized at the residence were weighed and field tested at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s
Office. The suspected methamphetamine field tested positive as methamphetamine and weighed
in total 972.5 grams (a little over 2 pounds). The brown substance suspected to be heroin field
tested positive for heroin and weighed in total 50.9 grams.

  • Bullock was arrested and charged with the following:
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1 st Degree 1 st Offense > 2 grams methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1 st Degree 1 st Offense > 2 grams heroin
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1 st Degree 1 st Offense (> 10 dose units drug unspecified)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 3 rd Degree – Drug Unspecified
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess

The death investigation remains under investigation by Deputy Harrison and the Pulaski County
Narcotics Division. Deputy Harrison was assisted on the scene by Sergeant Preston Pitman,
Deputy Seth Gover, Deputy Evan Whitis, and Deputy James Pitman.
