A Liberty man is facing charges after he allegedly beat another man with a broom handle.

The Casey County Sheriff's Office says incident occurred around 2am Tuesday, at a residence on Ky. 910. The victim, Mark Roy, told Deputies that Bryan Thomas came into his room while he was asleep and started beating him with the broom handle. Roy suffered a deep gash above his right eye and was taken to the Casey County Hospital for treatment.

35 year old Bryan Thomas was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree. He told police that he had been hearing voices in his head and that he thought Roy was one of the voices.

He also said that he had done meth a few days before the incident.

Thomas was lodged in the Casey County Jail.
