LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL MEETING REPORT

 

Liberty City Council met in regular session Monday.
 


A few items mentioned by Mayor Sam Haddad that were not on the regular agenda...The city hopes to begin phase one of a sewer project in August thanks to a $1 Million Dollar grant...The city is now accepting credit and debit for bill payments with a 3% surcharge added...New city stickers are now on sale at City Hall. Mayor Haddad also thanked Casey County Hospital for buying stickers for all their employees and urged other employees to follow suit.


Heather Cundiff with Liberty Tourism proposed a plan to utilize 300 acres owned by the city to enhance trails. The property is currently not being used. A group of near-by property owners presented a petition opposing the plan. The Council will consider options. No action was taken.


Zoning Officer, Doug Johnson, asked the Council to amend the Nuisance Ordinance to include fees for non-compliance. He also asked the Council to advertise pictures of the non-compliant properties in the Paper. No action was taken.
