A Pulaski County man was arrested on DUI charges in Casey County, Sunday night.
Deputy Jake Atwood, with Casey County Sheriff's Office responded to the call around 9pm, on E. Ky 70 in the Bethelridge area, in reference to a two vehicle accident near the Pulaski County line.
Witnesses stated that one of the drivers, Robert J. Wesley, age 39 of Science Hill, had left the area, headed toward Pulaski County.
Shelby Anderson, of Bethelridge, advised that her boyfriend, Timothy Pittman, also of Bethelridge, had went looking for Wesley because he had stated to them that the vehicle, a 2006 Scion XB, was stolen. During the investigation, Pittman returned to the scene with Wesley.
The citation states that Mr. Wesley showed signs of impairment. He stated he had drank a 6-pack of beer around lunchtime, and had done bath salts the day before. When asked how he ended up in the roadway, Wesley stated that he was being pulled by another vehicle and the tow strap had broke. He also told the Deputy that he had left the scene because he thought Pittman was dead and he didn't want to see a dead body.
Wesley failed sobriety tests and was transported to Casey County Hospital for a blood test.
He was lodged in the Casey County Jail on charges of DUI-2nd Offense, Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Failure to Render Aid, No Insurance, & No Registration Plates.
