CCSO: TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

A weaving driver is facing drug charges after a traffic stop late Friday night.

Just before Midnight Friday, Deputy Jake Atwood, with Casey County Sheriff's Office, observed a 2003 GMC Sonoma Pickup that failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Ky 206 & west Hwy 70. The driver also drifted towards the centerline, then jerk the wheel to maintain his lane. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop about nine miles west of Liberty on Martin Road.

The driver, Josh Wooten, consented to a search of the vehicle and admitted there was Methamphetamine residue inside of a container in his pocket.

As the passenger stepped out of the truck, she was seen tossing a shiny container into the ditch. 41 year old Stacey R. Wooten, of 3253 Ky 78, Hustonville, later admitted there was dope in the container that they had just picked up at Five Star.

Stacey Wooten was arrested and transported to the Casey County Jail on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine-1st Degree/2nd Offense, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Deputies Tyler Luttrell, and Austin Harris assisted.
