A check on a suspicious vehicle leads to drug charges for two Wayne County women.
Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron says, in the early morning hours on Tuesday, Deputies Derek Dennis and James Barnett noticed the women sitting in a vehicle at a Monticello business on South Main Street, where drug transactions have been occurring.
After approaching the vehicle, Deputy Barnett located a cigarette pack laying on a rear tire. Inside it was a plastic bag containing over 4 grams of methamphetamine.
The driver, 40 year old Carrisa D. Pyles of Monticello, admitted the meth was hers, and she was going to sell it to the other woman.
The Deputies then followed Pyles to to her residence on Frisby Street where she lives with 34 year old Samantha R. Appleby.
They followed Pyles inside where they observed marijuana and two more bags of suspected methamphetamine laying in plain view.
A search the residence resulted in additional illegal narcotics and a set of digital scales being seized. Appleby stated that all these items belonged to her.
Both women were lodged in the Wayne County Jail.
Pyles is charged with trafficking Meth-1st degree (over 2 grams).
Appleby is charged with trafficking Meth-1st degree (over 2 grams), possession & trafficking drugs unspecified-3rd degree, possession opiates-1st degree, illegal possession of a legend drug and, possession of drug paraphernalia.
