Liberty City Council met in special session Wednesday to discuss a proposed City Sticker ordinance, along with Budget issues.
The Council had previously voted down a proposed Occupational Tax, so to try & bolster funding to balance the budget, Councilman Brian Beeler suggested a City Sticker for residents and employees who work inside the city limits. The issue was brought to a vote Wednesday, which ended in a tie of 3-3. Mayor Steven Brown then broke the tie, voting no.
The Council also heard a 1st Reading of the '22 Budget and adopted a Budget for '23.
The Council also opted to use Federal Grant money to cover $47,700 for Police Department salaries, and dedicated $62,000 in Covid Grant money to begin video camera operations in the City's sewer lines.
The Council will meet again on Monday for a 2nd Reading of the Budget.
