CASEY COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON DUI & DRUG CHARGES DURING A TRAFFIC STOP WEDNESDAY NIGHT

 

A Casey County man arrested on drug and other charges following a traffic stop late Wednesday.


Just before 9pm, Casey County Deputy Geoffrey Brown observed a '97 Dodge Dakota pickup crossing the white line on US 127. The truck also had expired tags. Deputy Brown initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Castle Rock Rd., about five miles north of Liberty. 


The driver, 39 year old Jerry A Peavey, of KY 1547, Liberty, could not produce a driver's license, or proof of insurance.  He stated he had smoked marijuana earlier. Dispatch advised Mr. Peavey had an active warrant out of Pulaski County. 


Peavey stated he had some marijuana, and gave it to Deputies Tyler Luttrell, & Vance Davis. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of around 90 grams of Methamphetamine, several small clear baggies, a set of scales, Marijuana & Meth pipes, several syringes, and $186 in cash.


Mr. Peavey failed field sobriety tests. He was lodged in the Casey County Jail on charges of:

  • Reckless Driving
  • No Insurance
  • No Registration Plates
  • Driving on Suspended/Revoked OL's
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine-1st Degree (over 2 grams)
  • DUI-Controlled Substance (Aggravated Circumstance)
  • Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle
