BARRY LEE NAMED SUPERINTENDENT OF CASEY COUNTY SCHOOLS

 

The Casey County Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Barry D. Lee as the new Superintendent of the Casey County School District.  Mr. Lee’s official start date as superintendent will be August 2, 2021.

 

In his 19 years in education Lee has held many roles, including:

-Director of Special Education, 504, and Preschool Services 

-Director of Social Studies Curriculum 

-Principal at Casey County High School

-Special Education Teacher 

-Track & Field and Cross Country Head Coach; Football Assistant Coach

 

Mr. Lee received his Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Learning & Behavior Disorders from Campbellsville University. He continued his education at the University of the Cumberlands where he also received professional certifications for Principal, Director of Special Education, and School Superintendent.

 

For the past nine years he has served in the roll of Director of Special Education, & Preschool and recently Social Studies and 504’s. He also served as the Director of Special Education in Pulaski County for two years.

 

He is an adjunct professor at two of his alma maters, Eastern Kentucky University, where he 

teaches for the Curriculum and Instruction Special Education Program, and an adjunct with Campbellsville University, where he established the “Casey County Grow Your Own Principal” program for teachers in Casey County.

 

He currently serves on the Commonwealth’s Education Continuum workgroup for Successful Transition to Postsecondary.

 

He was elected Vice-President for the Kentucky Council for Administrators of Special Education (KYCASE) last year, and now serves as President-Elect for that association. 

 

He is a past president of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) and past chair of the State Advisory Council for Exceptional Children (SACEC), and still a member, and also a member of the Kentucky Middle State Advisory Board for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. 

 

He is a strong advocate for all students and for educators. 

 

He is married to Kristy Lee, who has also served as a teacher in the Casey County School system for the past 19 years. They have two children; a son Skyler Mason, and a daughter, Raegan Nicole. They enjoy camping, kayaking and the lake life!
