The Casey County Board of Education met in a special called session Monday evening.

 Chairman of the board Dr. Michael Turner submitted his resignation at the beginning of the meeting.

 The resignation was accepted by the board and vice chairman Vernon Clark assumed the role of acting chairman.

 Board attorney Winter Huff advised that the board has 60 days to appoint a new member. The board voted to advertise the position to fill the remainder of Dr. Turner's term through 2022. This just one week after Superintendent Marion Sowders announced his retirement.

 The board voted to enter into a contract with Tim Eaton of the Kentucky School Board Association to direct them in their search for a new superintendent...

 A screening committee will narrow applications down to seven finalists. The school board will then vote, and hopes to name a new superintendent by August 2nd.
