A Liberty man arrested on drug trafficking charges, following a brief foot pursuit.
The Casey County Sheriff's Office reports, Deputy Vance Davis, assisted by Liberty Police Officer Terry Zimmerman, arrested 39 year old Derrick Hamilton shortly before 1am Thursday morning.
Deputies observed someone inside A&D Market, on Hustonville Street, after store closing hours. Hamilton was then seen around the back of the store. When questioned by officers, Hamilton attempted to flee on foot.
Officers found a black bag & a black box on Hamilton. Inside, they found approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine in multiple bags, along with scales, needles, a pipe, straws, and over $250 in cash. Another $100 bill was also found where Officers first made contact.
Hamilton was arrested on charges of fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot), trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree (meth), drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
He was transported to the Casey County Jail.
