LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL MEETING REPORT

Liberty City Council made in regular session Monday.

Chuck Dorman advised the council concerning the bridge on Napier Street. The bridge was damaged due to an auto accident some time ago, and has been deteriorating.

Mayor Steven Brown said the council will seek an assessment by the state, and consult with local contractors to see what can be done to repair the bridge.

It was another long meeting with a very lengthy debate concerning utility rates for water and sewer. A proposal was made to leave the water rates unchanged, and adjust sewer rates to $12.50 per thousand gallons. The council approved a first reading of that ordinance. A second reading will have to be approved before any changes can be made.

The council also voted to pay for dumpster usage for flood victims concerning the 35 businesses affected. In addition the water and sewer bill for those affected businesses will remain the same as the previous month.

The council then went into executive session to discuss the acquisition of real property.

The next regular meeting of the Liberty City Council will be April 12th.
