Pulaski Co. Sheriff Greg Speck reports that around 3:30am Wednesday morning, Deputy Branson Patterson arrested 46 year old Lewey Whitis, of Somerset, observing him working on a vehicle on the Southwestern By-Pass. Dispatch advised that Mr. Whitis had a Pulaski Circuit Court warrant on him where he failed to appear concerning child support. He was arrested on the warrant.
Further investigation found that Whitis did not own the vehicle he was working on but was in the process of stealing parts and items from the vehicle. Deputy Patterson also discovered drug paraphernalia consistent with the use of illegal drugs.
In addition to the warrant, Lewey Whitis was charged with:
1. Theft of Auto - $500 or more
2. Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
3. Theft under $500
4. Public Intoxication – Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
5. Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possession
Mr. Whitis was lodged in the Pulaski County Jail.
