CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

The Casey County Fiscal Court held their first regular session of 2021 Monday.

The magistrates voted to allow the apply for a grant for the Casey County Ambulance Service. Judge Executive Randy Dile...

Also under general business, the Court approved the Sheriffs Department budget, the County Clerks budget, and the Sheriff's advancement.

Under road business Judge Dial says there is no new information to pass along, other than the four new trucks ordered for the road department have a new production date of next Monday.

With County Jailer, Tommy Miller, in attendance there was a very lengthy discussion concerning jail business.

The jail is currently housing about 133 inmates. About 38 of those are county inmates, 93 from the state, and a couple inmates from other counties. At this rate the county jail is losing about $100,000 a month, due to issues with COVID-19.

County Attorney, Tommy Weddle, warned the fiscal court that this is a long-term problem with no quick fix, and there probably needs to be a re-evaluation of jail operations and budget.

Under miscellaneous business Judge Dial read a letter to the court from County Corner, Kurt Demrow, making another request for a second paid deputy at a rate of $250 per month. No motion was made and no action was taken.

The next regular meeting of the Casey County Fiscal Court will be Jan. 18th.
