PULASKI COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

According to Sheriff Greg Speck, Deputies arrested William Brown, age 37, of Alice Lane, Science Hill, Kentucky early this morning, June 5, 2020, at 1:17 AM for attempting to elude Deputies and for drug-related charges.

Deputies were dispatched to a residential alarm, and while on their way to the alarm, someone called dispatch and said they heard a motorcycle near where the alarm was and that it was heading toward Highway 914. (It was later determined that Mr. Brown’s leaving on the motorcycle had nothing to do with the alarm activation).

Deputy Steven Alexander observed a motorcycle and saw it disregard a red light at the intersection of Oak Hill Road and Highway 914. When Deputy Alexander attempted to stop the motorcycle, Mr. Brown accelerated and would not stop. Deputy Alexander followed at a safe distance with his emergency equipment activated. Deputy Alexander saw the motorcycle wreck on the off-ramp that leads to the Cumberland Parkway. When the motorcycle stopped, Mr. Brown began running but was soon caught by the Deputies and taken into custody.

The Somerset/Pulaski EMS responded to the scene and took Mr. Brown to the Lake Cumberland Hospital for treatment of his injuries that occurred when he lost control of the motorcycle and slid along the roadway.

After he was treated at the hospital, he was transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center by Deputy Alexander and lodged where he is currently at as of this press release.

Other agencies, in addition to the Deputies, that responded to the scene to assist include the Somerset Police Department, the Somerset/Pulaski County EMS, and the Somerset Fire Department.

Following the arrest, Deputy Brandon Smith, using K-9 Leo, was able to locate 28.4 Grams (1 Ounce) of Methamphetamine. Also discovered was $1393.00 cash.

William Brown was arrested for the following charges:

1. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1stDegree, 1st Offense (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)

2. Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rdDegree – Drug Unspecified

3. Tampering with Physical Evidence

4. Disregarding a Traffic Controlled Device – Traffic Light

5. Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (Motor Vehicle)

6. Speeding 26 MPH over the Speed Limit

7. Careless Driving

8. Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)

9. No Insurance

Deputy Steven Alexander also served a Madison County District Court Warrant that charges William Brown with the following:

1. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1stDegree, 1st Offense (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)

2. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The investigation continues by Deputy Steven Alexander and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Narcotic Division.
