Boyle County County Fiscal Court voted this week to compost large dead animals.
Under the agreement approved by the magistrates, the Soil Conservation District will pay the county $70,000 a year to compost animals at the Perryville Convenience Center.
The money will pay an employee to pick up dead animals at farms, get materials to cover the animals and other expenses.
The composting was the cheapest and most efficient option.
Last year, the Soil Conservation District paid for removal of over 2,000 dead animals, mostly from farms, and some from the local animal shelter.
