PULASKI COUNTY MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO SEVERAL STOLEN VEHICLES

According to Sheriff Greg Speck, Deputies arrested James Paul Bedwell, age 32 of Hayes Road in Eubank, KY today.  The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has been looking for Bedwell for several days on theft related charges. He has eluded capture until today when he was apprehended.

Initially, Bedwell was arrested on a warrant out of Lincoln where he was wanted for stealing a 1996 Jeep, Cherokee.  That vehicle was located in Science Hill on Sunday. It had been spray painted black everywhere but the hood. Detective Joey Johnson and Detective Cody Cundiff (both had been investigating a stolen vehicle earlier in the day) interviewed Bedwell at the Sheriff’s Office.  Subsequent to that interview, Bedwell was charged with additional charges.

Detective Joey Johnson charged Bedwell with Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $10,000 but Under $1,000,000. This charge arose from an investigation conducted by Deputy Joey Johnson with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Deputy Zack Mayfield also with the Sheriff’s Office.  This concerned the theft of a 2016 Polaris Razor Side by Side. This side by side had sustained a lot of damage after it was stolen by Bedwell.

After interviewing Mr. Bedwell, evidence was obtained and passed onto Chief Tony Duncan concerning the theft of a truck. With the evidence Chief Duncan had he was able to charge Mr. Bedwell with the theft of a 1994 F-350 dump truck, an investigation that the Eubank Police Department was working, and that Mr. Bedwell was a suspect in taken it. This truck had been stolen from Fred Phelps Road in Eubank.

On August 25, 2019 Deputy Branson Patterson had responded to the theft of a pickup truck on Highway 39.  Today, this vehicle was recovered from a creek near Gilliland Lane. The vehicle had the wooden rails removed, the tires had been spray painted as well as the hood and rear fender.  Mr. Bedwell was charged with the theft of this vehicle as well.

Mr. Bedwell was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.  As of this press release, no bond has been set.

This investigation continues by members of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, the Eubank Police Department and the Kentucky State Police.  Other charges could be forthcoming against Bedwell as well as other individuals as this investigation continues.
