TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO METH ARREST

A Liberty man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop Monday.

Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle noticed a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo traveling in the middle of the road on Butcher Street with very dark window tint. He initiated a traffic stop just before Noon on KY 70 near the Judicial Center. The driver, 26 year old Timothy S. Childress, stated he did not have a driver’s license. Canine “Mako,” with Liberty Police Department, alerted to possible drugs in the vehicle. A search uncovered a baggie containing a crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine.

Childress stated he wasn’t sure about meth in the vehicle, but stated he had used meth 2 days ago. Field sobriety tests indicated Childress was driving under the influence of drugs. He was transported to Casey County Hospital for blood testing.

The window tinting was also tested and showed to be in violation of the 35% legal limit.

Childress was lodged in the Casey County Jail on charges of Carless Driving, Excessive Window Tinting, Driving on a DUI Suspended License, & Possession of Methamphetamine-1st Degree/2nd Offense.

Sheriff Weddle was assisted on scene by Deputy Jayson Grider, Liberty Police Chief Steven Garrett, K9 Mako, Officer Christian, & Constable Wesley.
