A Liberty man is accused of attacking his mother with a hatchet.
Casey County Sheriff, Chad Weddle, along with Deputy Jason Grider, responded to a 911 dispatch around 9:30am Thursday morning at 2075 Poplar Springs Road.
The call came from Tony Luttrell, stating that 22 year old William Tyler Luttrell had attacked his mother, Michelle Luttrell.
Michelle identified her son as her attacker. She suffered deep cuts to her forehead and right arm. A helicopter was requested, but declined due to weather conditions. Michelle was transported to Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville by Casey County EMS.
Sheriff Weddle says Tyler Luttrell was found in an upstairs bedroom of the residence. He was ordered to put his hands behind his back, but jumped up with the hatched in his right hand. He ignored several commands to drop the weapon. That’s when Sheriff Weddle told him if he didn’t drop the hatchet, he’d have to shoot him. Tyler eventually complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
He was lodged in the Casey County Jail on charges of Assault-1st Degree (Domestic Violence). He was also served a Russell County indictment warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (Methamphetamine), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
