Members of the Liberty-Casey County Rescue Squad received a call for assistance from pet owners of 2 missing Jack Russell dogs, Sassy and Rex. After arriving on scene late in the evening of July 4th, it was apparent that the dogs had chased a raccoon under a rock bluff and deep into a crevice off of Bryant Ridge Rd. After discussions with the pet owners, the Buckners, who had been trying to self rescue for nearly 4 hours, the decision was made to suspend efforts until day light the next morning. Units gathered back on scene with more man power and appropriate tools. With in 2 hours a successful rescue was achieved for both Sassy and Rex! Both dogs had been missing for a total of approximately 40 hours. They are now safe and sound with their loving owners Aaron, Amanda and Sarah. Liberty-Casey County Rescue Squad would like to the thank the Buckners for the opportunity to assist in this heart felt animal rescue. It just goes to show that in our small town emergency personnel will always pull together to get the job done!
