The Columbia Adair County Tourism and Convention Commission will be having their September monthly meeting Tuesday, September 15, 12:00 Noon CDT at 201 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY.

The JES SBDM Council will have a regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 14 at 3:00 PM CST in the JES Conference Room. See attachment to view meeting agenda.

The ACMS SBDM Council regular September meeting will be held at 3:30 pm CT on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in the ACMS Conference Room at Adair County Middle School, 510 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY.

The Springs Cruise-In & Car Show is held every 3rd Saturday from 1pm-4pm in downtown Russell Springs. The next cruise-in will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19th and it will be a "judged" show.

The 2026 Adair County Food Pantry Fundraiser featuring Joe Lynn Barbee’s loaded baked potato w/BBQ, will be held on Friday, Oct 2nd from 10:30amCT until we run out of food. The fundraiser will be held at 203 S. Monroe Street in Columbia with our famous chef, Joe Barbee! 

Meals are $10 each; donations welcomed. Pre-Orders are highly recommended by September 28th. Local delivery of 5 or more in Columbia only.

The Downtown Days Photography Contest is back in 2026! 

The photography contest is hosted by the Adair County Public Library's Genealogy & History Research Center, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. 

Photographs should be taken in Columbia and Adair County, subject matter is up to the photographer. Entries must be printed in an 8 x 10 inch format—portrait or landscape. Both color and black & white are welcome. 

There are two categories: Amateur and Professional--please designate your category. 

Three photos by an entrant are the limit due to space for display. 

Entries must be turned in to the Research Center by 5pm on October 1st to be displayed. 

Each entry must have on the reverse side the printed name of the entrant, contact phone number, and category.

Photographs will be displayed at the Research Center during operating hours—9am-5pm each day, Monday through Friday, beginning Friday, October 2nd through Tuesday, October 13th. 

An independent judging team of three will select the first, second and third place winners.

Everyone is encouraged to come by and view all the entries. Each person may then vote for their favorite. This creates another winner—Public Favorite. 

Results of the contest will be announced before/between concert performances on the evening of Saturday, October 10th.

Weather, volatile markets, and health events all pose threats to the family farm. Over the past year, we have witnessed many of our neighboring counties experience severe impacts from drought, flooding, and tornadoes. Farmers also face unpredictable markets and fluctuating input costs. In addition, the success of every family farm depends on the health and well-being of those who operate it. While we may not be able to predict or prevent every challenge, we can prepare our families and farms for the risks we know exist.

Join us for a one-hour overview and discussion on developing plans to help your farm navigate disasters, unfavorable market conditions, and unexpected health events. Having a plan in place can help your family farm endure whatever challenges arise and could make a difference in keeping the farm for future generations.

The program will be offered on the following dates at the Adair County Extension Office. Participants only need to attend one session.

• September 16th at 10:00 am
