Two people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop Tuesday (1/8/19) in Casey County.
Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle stopped a 2004 Cadillac on US 127 for speeding. Weddle says the driver, 26-year-old Kaitlyn Peavey of Liberty, KY had slurred speech. Peavey stated she had used Meth on Monday and had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. Liberty Police Chief Steve Garrett assisted with his K9 (Mako), which alerted on the vehicle. Officers asked a passenger, 29-year-old Jacob Brewer of Liberty, KY to exit the vehicle. When he got out of the car, a syringe fell to the ground. A search of the vehicle uncovered a baggie of crystal meth, a syringe, and a metal pop can bottom. The items were located under the passenger seat.
Peavey was charged with Speeding (8 mph over limit), & Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Brewer was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree/2nd Offense (Methamphetamine), & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both were lodged in the Casey County Jail.
