The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board recently approved $151,000 in Agricultural Development Funds for the 2018 Adair County CAIP program (County Agricultural Investment Program) to be administered by the Adair County Cattlemen's Association. This program is a 50% cost-share program with a maximum funding of $1,500 per farm operation. CAIP is designed to provide farmers with incentives to allow them to improve and diversify their current production practices. Applications for the 2018 Adair County CAIP program will be available August 6 - August 24, 2018 at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street in Columbia during regular business hours. The "Revisit Knifley Planning Committee" is meeting regularly and plans are being developed for the 5th Annual Revisit Knifley Homecoming & Festival for September 7th and 8th, 2018. This year's festival will feature many of the wonderful events from the past including: vendors, music, free kids activities and Knifley history. There will also be a kids pedal tractor pull, 5K Walk/Run, car & tractor shows and an auction. A children's pageant and gospel singing will be offered on Friday night, September 7, 2018. A new event for this year will be a Veterans 50/50 motorcycle ride & show on Saturday, September 8, 2018..

The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board recently approved $26,250 in Ag Development Funds for an Adair County Youth Agricultural Incentives Program. The focus of the program is on youth developing agricultural projects, as well as strengthening partnerships with school ag programs, Cooperative Extension, and 4-H/FFA organizations. This is a cost-share program, and youth must be enrolled in elementary, middle or high school, or home school and be at least 9 years of age on January 1, 2018. Lifeline's Annual Poker Run is August 18, 2018. Sign-ups will start at 9amET at Gateway Park in Liberty, KY. Kick-stands up at 10amET. The cost is $15 per bike, $5 for extra rider. Campbellsville Elementary School PTA will have its elections on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Elections will begin at 6 p.m. at the school. All paid members are eligible to vote. To join the PTA, dues are $5. The 2nd Annual Book Fair entitled "People, Politics, Poetry, and Prose and Everything in Between" will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Columbia, KY.
The book fair is scheduled to draw authors throughout the Commonwealth with almost 50 already determined to be in Adair County for the event. Some of the authors include: Darlene Campbell of Columbia, Nash Black of Russell Springs, Joe Fair of Campbellsville, Gina Zais of Bowling Green, Tim Roy of Columbia, Mike Watson of Harrodsburg, and many more.
The event will be held at the Wheet Fellowship Hall of the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Food vendors are also invited to setup.

The Paz-Holley Project is up to $78,532, with a goal of $108,000 needed to completely pay for a house for this family of 12.
The project originated from a group of individuals wanting to help 5 young Adair County children who became homeless when their mother was murdered and their father was taken to jail in October, 2017. The children were taken in by their mother's brother and his wife who already had 5 children of their own, and now they are sudden parents of 10 children.

Campbellsville Independent Schools will hosts clinics for students to receive the Hepatitis A vaccination, which they are required to have before attending school.
All students are required to have a current certificate of immunization status to attend a public school such as Campbellsville Independent Schools. Specifically, students in kindergarten through their senior year of high school will be required to have two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine. Students age 16 and older must receive the meningococcal ACWY vaccine.
Kroger staff members will set up at Campbellsville Elementary School during its open house on Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Open house will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m.
Eastridge Phelps staff members will set up for Campbellsville middle and high school students on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 12:30 to 4:15 p.m. CMS and CHS will host open houses on Thursday, Aug. 2. CMS open house is from 4 to 7 p.m.
CHS freshmen will attend Freshman Experience from 9 a.m. to noon and sophomores, juniors and seniors will attend from noon to 2 p.m.
The clinics are for all students and staff members.
The Hepatitis A vaccination will be provided to staff members for free, with school insurance. Students can receive the vaccinations with insurance or cash payment. Without insurance, cost is $40 for the Hepatitis A vaccine and $130 for the meningococcal vaccination. Students who receive Medicaid must get the vaccinations at the Taylor County Health Department.
CMS and CHS students who want to receive the vaccinations at the clinics must have an adult with them to complete a consent from. Consent forms are available at Kroger and Eastridge Phelps locations, or, if receiving the vaccination from Eastridge Phelps, online at eastridgephelps.com/vaccine-consent-and-assessment.html.
